Leadership Tip: The Guilt Factor

I am a Jewish, Italian, Catholic girl born and bred to feel extraordinary levels of guilt. I have perfected this gift and it is one aspect of my life I now strive to stay aware of and committed to changing.

I know that guilt is an illusion, and it is an illusion that can control your mind. Guilt is an energy sucker that we bring upon ourselves.

Here are a few things I have been working on to dump this head trash of mine, let me know if you have any suggestions!

  1. I am committed to sharing what I really think vs. keeping it to myself until I can’t take it anymore, and then turning into an ugly witch because I was trying to be nice. This usually ends up with me being wrong and resentful and I’m consumed with guilt for such a bad choice!
  2. I am committed to not feeling guilty for putting myself first. I will always consider others and I plan on considering myself in my decisions too. I am officially on my own priority list!
  3. I will no longer worry about what others think about me, my choices and the way I live my life. Why do I care?
  4. I am committed to be the best version of myself and forgiving myself when I am not. I just clean up the mess and move forward.

Guilt is head trash and it needs to be dumped!
